WIC program to operate during government shutdown in Macomb County

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Women, Infant and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program will continue operating during the partial government shutdown, according to the Macomb County Health Department.

Backup funding to support the program's services will go into effect this week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports.

“WIC offices in Macomb County are open for business. Benefits can still be redeemed and stores are still accepting WIC EBT cards,” says Martha Brooks, WIC coordinator for Macomb County. “In addition to the Macomb County Health Department WIC locations, ACCESS and Community First sites are open and operating as well.”
