DETROIT (WXYZ) — Mayor Mike Duggan is expected to make an announcement Wednesday on a multi-million dollar grant geared toward helping revitalize Detroit neighborhoods.

The announcement will happen at 11 a.m. at Artist Village, apart of Detroit’s Historic Old Redford neighborhood.

The Wilson Foundation is expected to make the multi-million dollar donation. The money will be used for the city’s strategic neighborhood fund, meant to help spur commercial growth and redevelopment among 10 neighborhoods across the city.

It was almost a year ago to the date that Mayor Mike Duggan announced seven corporations offered to donate $5 million each – for a total of $35 million to be used for revitalization efforts.

An example of this: Penske, one of the seven corporations, donated their funds to revitalizing the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood, including the re-purposing of the former Guyton school as a community space and affordable housing.

No word just yet on how much this multi-million dollar grant from the Wilson Foundation will be.
