It's being billed as the world's first electric road.
The e-highway, as its nicknamed, opened last week in Sweden, according to automotive industry manufacturer Scania.
On a stretch of road just over a mile, near a city in central Sweden, power wires were installed overhead.
The hope was that a vehicle technologically equipped could take that electricity from the wires and roll with it--literally.
An electric hybrid truck developed by Scania was modified to harness that power. The truck comes with a "pantograph power collector" that can connect and disconnect to the wires while in motion.
The company says in a news release the conductive electrical transmission technology allows the truck to run as an electric vehicle while connected-- and return to hybrid status when it's detached.
Scania and German engineering company Siemens collaborated on the technology with support from the Swedish government and the private sector.
