You are invited to hit the road for an event that aims to help raise money for kids with cancer. It is a charity ride this Sunday, August 14 in honor of a man who loved helping others.

Bert Loomis organized many Cruisin for a Cure rides to fundraise for sick kids.

He died one year ago when a driver made an illegal U-Turn on U.S. 23 in Livingston County, right in front of his motorcycle. His organs were donated to save lives.

"He was just a great guy. We want to show his wife our support. I think it is important we bring exposure to this horrible decision that took his life," said Joe Snook, Bert's co-worker at Kennedy Industries in Wixom and life-long friend. "The ride highlights the good that Bert did and honors him by continuing to do good."

The Bert Loomis Memorial Ride starts at Kennedy Industries at 4925 Holz Drive in Wixom. Registration starts at ten. The ride begins at eleven.  Motorcycles and cars are welcome to cruise. Proceeds from T-shirt sales will benefit Cruisin for a Cure.
