TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 21-year-old Sterling Heights woman is facing drunk driving charges after she was allegedly driving the wrong way down Big Beaver Rd. late Friday night.

According to police, officers initiated the traffic stop on the 2019 Ford Fusion near Big Beaver and Crooks around 11:56 p.m. Friday.

Officers approached the vehicle and found it had a flat front left tire. Police say 21-year-old Courtney Marie Pefley, from Sterling Heights, had an odor of alcohol emitting from her. She told police she had two drinks.

Police say she was asked to perform sobriety tests, which she did but didn't pass them.

According to police, she refused to submit to a breath test and was arrested. At the Troy lock-up facility, she was given her chemical test rights and agreed to a breath test with results of .25 and .24, three times the legal limit.

She was arraigned on Wednesday on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, first offense, and preliminary breath test refusal.
