BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A woman was charged with an identity theft felony after she tried to purchase a $9,000 Yamaha motorcycle in another person's name.

Viola McDowell, 28, was arrested at Motor City Power Sports in Bloomfield Hills for identity theft and fraud. McDowell opened a credit application in someone else's name at the store, according to police. McDowell used a fraudulent driver's license, showing the store's manager a license with the victim's name on it.

The store's manager told police that he'd received a call earlier in the day from a woman who said she was a victim of identity theft. That woman told the manager that an application had been opened in her name, and the manager found an application with the woman's personal information.

McDowell has a $25,000 bond and is set to return to court on July 8.
