An Oakland County woman who was sentenced to life in prison as a teen will get a shot at parole, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Jennifer Pruitt was involved in the robbery and stabbing of her 75-year-old neighbor in 1992, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Despite not actually stabbing the man, she was sentenced to life in prison. On Thursday during a re-sentencing hearing, she learned that she will be eligible for parole in six years.

In January, the Supreme Court issued a ruling, expanding an earlier, ruling, that issued mandatory life sentences for juveniles convicted of murder. Because of the expansion, it gave any juvenile a who had a life sentence to have a chance for release.
