Oak Park, MICH. (WXYZ) - Michigan State police are investigating a deadly car crash that occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. Wednesday morning on northbound M-39.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a guard rail, witnesses said. A second vehicle struck the car that was stopped on the road.
The crash occurred in Detroit, north of McNichols and closed a section of M-39 for several hours Wednesday morning.
Police said the driver of the second vehicle may have been talking on a cell phone at the time of the crash.
The driver of the first vehicle, which was a 1993 Saturn, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The victim's identity has not yet been released pending notification of her family.
