The hit-and-run injured a 45-year-old Van Buren Township woman.

On June 16, Taylor police officers were dispatched to the 23300 block of Goddard Road in response to a call from protesters.

Prosecutors say the protesters walked south on Telegraph Road and crossed at Goodard Road. Orlene Alberta Jones, 68, was allegedly driving eastbound on Goddard when protesters stopped in the roadway.

When her vehicle was close to the protesters, Jones allegedly drove off, striking a protester. While doing so, prosecutors say she also caused another protester to jump off his bike to avoid being hit by her car. As a result, Jones allegedly drove over his bike and caused extensive damage.

Jones allegedly immediately drove away from the scene.

She has been charged with Failure to Stop/Report a Personal Injury Accident, Failure to Stop/Report Property Damage Accident, and Malicious Destruction of Property - $200 - $1,000.
