Ecorse Police Chief Mike Moore says one person was killed in a traffic accident that occurred shortly after midnight on 17th Street, between West Outer Drive and Salliotte.

The Downriver Accident Reconstruction Team is on the scene working to determine exactly what happened.

Moore says the victim, a young woman, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

Family has identified her as 20-year-old Donita Alford. They say Donita worked at the airport and wanted to become a nurse.

Another female in that vehicle was injured and transported to a local hospital.

The second vehicle was occupied by two men, one of which attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was later taken into custody by police.
