Many cities in metro Detroit are celebrating Memorial Day weekend with parades and services.

Memorial Day falls on the last Monday in May and is observed in remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America.

BELLEVILLE

Sumpter Township Country Fest

  • Midway rides, games, live animals and more at the annual blowout from Friday to Monday on the Sumpter Fairgrounds.

CANTON

Fire Department's Honor Guard Memorial Day Service

  • The Canton Fire Department's Honor Guard will be hosting a Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Center in Heritage Park.

DEARBORN

Civil War Remembrance 

  • Hundreds of Union and Confederate re-enactors Friday to Monday at The Henry Ford in Greenfield Village.

Memorial Day Parade

  • Honor the lives of fallen soldiers at the 94th annual parade on Michigan Avenue starting at 10 a.m.

DEXTER

Dexter Memorial Day Parade

  • This annual march for soldiers will take place on Memorial Day in the downtown Dexter area at 10 a.m.

FARMINGTON

Farmington Memorial Day Parade

  • The annual procession started back in 1970 and continues to celebrate veterans at the Grand River Avenue and Orchard Lake Road area starting at 10 a.m.

GROSSE POINTE

Memorial Day Service

  • The annual Memorial Day event features a service and other activities to honor fallen soldiers at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial at 10 a.m.

MILFORD

Memorial Day Parade

  • Nearly 1,000 veterans will march through downtown Milford at 11 a.m on Memorial Day.

NORTHVILLE

Memorial Day Parade

  • The annual event will honor veterans in downtown Northville at 10 a.m.

NOVI

Memorial Day Parade

  • Scout troops, local businesses and bands will honor fallen soldiers at the event on Memorial Day starting at 10 a.m. with steps off at 10 Mile and Karmin.

Memorial Day Run 

  • Chose from a 10K run, a 5K walk or run and a one-mile family run to support local charities on Memorial Day in Fuerst Park beginning 6:45 a.m.

ORCHARD LAKE

St. Mary's Polish Country Fair

  • Authentic Polish and American food, live entertainment, carnival rides and more starting at 5 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Monday at Orchard Lake St. Mary's Campus.

ROYAL OAK

Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade

  • Celebrate Memorial Day at the annual parade, which takes place on Main and Harrison Streets at 9 a.m.

SALINE

Memorial Day Parade

  • The annual procession will take place on Michigan Avenue at 10 a.m.

SOUTHFIELD

Memorial Day Event

  • City of Southfield to honor veterans and active-duty service members with 21-gun salute, presentation of colors, playing of Taps and more on Friday at 9 a.m. at Southfield City Hall.

ST. CLAIR SHORES 

Memorial Day Parade

  • The parade will take place on Sunday on Harper Avenue in St. Clair Shores at 1 p.m.

STERLING HEIGHTS

Memorial Day Parade

  • Hundreds will gather for the 39th annual parade, which honors fallen soldiers at Dodge Park beginning at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day.

WALLED LAKE

Memorial Day Parade

  • The event will begin at 11 a.m. on East Walled Lake Drive on Memorial Day.
