(WXYZ) — It's the most snow metro Detroit has seen in May in nearly 100 years.

After a half inch of snow fell Sunday night at DTW, May 2020 is now one of the snowiest months of May on record for metro Detroit. It's not a lot of snow, but we don't see a lot of snow in May.

In the 146 years of records, only eight years had measurable snowfall (0.1" or more) in May.

Here are the snowiest Mays in metro Detroit:

6.0" May 1923
5.0" May 1883
