A Special Olympian from Plymouth is celebrating a new world record.

James Ellison dead lifted 660 pounds during competition at the Special Olympics Michigan State Summer Games presented by SpartanNash.

While the lift is still an unofficial Special Olympics World Record, it is still more weight than any athlete lifted during last summer's Special Olympics World Games in Las Angeles.

The 24-year-old Ellison has been lifting since he was 16-years-old.
