Bacari Alexander out to prove Detroit Mercy is a 'destination program' for college basketball

Detroit Mercy head coach Bacari Alexander is back where he played college basketball.

The Titans have a program rich in history, but as one of the hottest names in coaching circles for years, some outside of Michigan believed he 'settled' for his first head coaching gig in college basketball. 

Alexander explained why that's not the case at all.

"We have to do a better job of educating people on Detroit Mercy," he explained.

"Our program is not only one of a rich tradition, but it's also a destination place not only for future prospects, but for coaches."

Alexander left John Beilein's staff in Ann Arbor to return to his alma mater. The Titans held media day on Tuesday, and the enthusiasm from the head coach was apparent.

"I think paradise is sometimes where you are. One of the things that Coach Beilein and I discussed with future opportunities is fit.
