DETROIT - Brayan Pena will not return as the Tigers backup catcher.
The team informed him Wednesday they plan to go look in-house for a backup.
"I was inform that i will not be returning to The Tigers ,i want to thanks the FANS, the ORGANIZATION & my TEAMMATES for the opportunity !!!!" the 31-year old tweeted.
Signed to backup Alex Avila, Pena hit .297 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 71 games this season.
He spent four years with the Royals and four years with the Braves before joining Detroit.
