LAKELAND, Fla. (WXYZ) -- During a one-on-one conversation with Brad Galli on Thursday, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred urged fan patience with teams focusing on developing young players.
"I think our sport in the last five or six years has been characterized by successful youth movements," said Manfred. "If you look at the average age of the teams who've won, it's consistently moved down in the last few years."
Manfred praised Tigers general manager Al Avila for shifting his focus to a younger roster.
"I think fans need to be patient and accept the fact that great general managers like Al know when it's time to go young."
