Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera left Tuesday's game in the seventh inning with tightness in his left hip, the team told reporters after the game.
Cabrera was replaced by Andrew Romine.
Brad Ausmus told reporters that the move was precautionary and Cabrera is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday.
Cabrera has battled back issues this season, spending time on the disabled list in April.
