Big Ten fines Michigan $10,000, reprimands Jim Harbaugh for comments about officials

The Big Ten announced it is fining Michigan $10,000 as a "public reprimand" Jim Harbaugh's comments on officials after the Ohio State game.

for violating the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy.

According to the conference, his comments violated the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy and the conference agreement.

Harbaugh said he was "bitterly disappointed with the officiating," in the game which saw Ohio State get penalized twice.

“The official on my side is supposed to be watching that, not whether our coaches are in the white or not in the white not on the field,” Harbaugh said. “Their coaches were on the field, practically in the huddle at times.”

The officials also issued Harbaugh an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

"Coaches are teachers as well, and there is an expectation that they set the example for students and others in the area of sportsmanship," the conference release states.
