ALLEN PARK (WXYZ) — It didn't take long for Anthony Pittman to climb the depth chart at Wayne State.

After sitting out his freshman year, it was a fast rise to the starting roll and eventually GLIAC All-Conference honors by the time he graduated.

Now, Pittman is hoping he will find similar success in the NFL, with his hometown team, the Detroit Lions.

"It means a lot growing up in the area, it makes it extra special," Pittman said.

As a linebacker, it's a crowded room.

Pittman will have to show his skills as a special teams member, as well as understand the playbook to be able to assist in a backup role.

Pittman is keeping his expectations level at this point, understanding that only 53 men will make this roster, but at the same time, he does take a moment to live in the moment, and apprecaite that he's getting a chance to show what he's got right here at home.

"Sometimes I'm still taken aback by it, you've got guys you've seen on TV, guys that I've watched growing up, and it's amazing to be in the same room as them and learn from them, it would mean a lot to make the team, it's a goal that would be amazing to achieve," Pittman added.
