DETROIT (WXYZ) — Two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson announced on Tuesday he was donating $20,000 to the First Tee of Greater Detroit in honor of Dan Gilbert. The announcement was made at the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club.

Watson was part of the kids golf clinic at the RMC on Monday and said he wanted to honor him somehow.

"Dan has done so much for the city, means so much to him, and then obviously what his family's going through right now and everything, it was just in my heart to show some love in a different way," Watson said.

Gilbert suffered a stroke last month and was recently moved from the hospital to a rehab center. He worked to bring the Rocket Mortgage Classic to Detroit and wanted it in the city.

Watson also played in the Area 313 Celebrity Challenge with Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler.
