EAST LANSING, Mich. (WXYZ) -- Michigan State will install permanent lighting at Spartan Stadium in time for the 2017 football season.

The project was approved Wednesday by the university's Board of Trustees.

Michigan State currently uses temporary structures for night games.

Once the lights are installed, Northwestern and Purdue will be the only Big Ten schools whose stadiums do not feature permanent lighting.
