Detroit City FC announced it is renovating historic Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck ahead of the 2017 season.

Those renovations include adding more seats to the east grandstands, bleacher seats to the north end of the grandstands and structural and utility upgrades.

The unfinished sections in the east grandstands, including the north end and portions of the south end, are on track to be completed before the team opens up 2017 on May 6. That means the official capacity will stand at 7,325.

This is the second round of renovations the team has done to Keyworth since announcing its move in 2015. The club launched a community investment campaign to finance the renovations, and raised more than $700,000 from nearly 500 Michigan investors.

Improvements in the first round included fixing the bleachers, locker rooms, restrooms, lighting, and structural improvements to the east and west grandtands.

In all, 52,550 supporters attended DCFC's 10 home matches, up 46 percent from 2015.
