DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit City Football Club (DCFC) has unveiled the schedule for the inaugural National Premier League Soccer (NPSL) Founders Cup, which will kick off in August and continue through the fall.

DCFC was one of the 11 founding members of the Founders Cup and will compete in the East Region against teams from Florida, Tennessee, Milwaukee and New York.
Le Rouge will kick off the Founders Cup on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Miami FC before having the home opener at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck on Saturday, Aug. 17 against Chattanooga FC. Other home matches will take place against the Milwaukee Torrent, New York Cosmos, Miami FC and Miami United.
In November 2018, the team announced it would join the Founders Cup. The team isn't officially going pro as the league won't seek pro status from the U.S. Soccer Federation. Instead, the team will play in a league sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association. That means they will be fielding players with professional contracts and playing a longer season.
The team also named Trevor James as its new head coach. James, who has worked in the United States and in Europe will also be the club's manager, and has more than 30 years of coaching and scouting experience.After retiring from professional soccer in 1985, James worked as a freelance scout for FC Barcelona in 1996-97, Newcastle in 2001-02, FC Porto in 1994-96, Sporting Lisbon in 1992 and for the England national team during the build-up to the 1990 World Cup.
The Founders Cup semifinals will be held at the home of the highest remaining seeds on Nov. 2, with the final to be held at a location to be determined on Nov. 9.
