DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Red Wings have sent Filip Zadina back to the Grand Rapids Griffins, the team announced on Friday morning. Zadina, 19, was called up to the team and made his debut on Feb. 24 vs. the San Jose Sharks.

The team's first-round pick in 2018, sixth overall, Zadina scored his first NHL goal on March 5 at Colorado and tacked on two more assists in his nine NHL games.

He became the third-youngest Red Wings player to score his first NHL goal and one of six teens to score a goal for the franchise in the last 30 years.

Before being called up to Detroit, Zadina was on a seven-game point streak with Grand Rapids and had 15 goals and 16 assists in 45 games for the Griffins.

As of Friday, March 15, the Red Wings sit in second-to-last place in the NHL, just four points more than the Ottawa Senators in last place.
