DETROIT — Dwane Casey said he spent time on a Zoom video call this week with Pistons players, looking for answers.

The questions were the same question countless of Americans face: how can I help? What can we do?

After the killing of George Floyd, Casey watched peaceful protests in Detroit the last few nights. He found his answer. Casey and a group of Pistons players joined protesters at Detroit Police Department headquarters on Thursday.

"You know what we talked about the other night? This is something we can do," he said.

Luke Kennard, Bruce Brown, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Brandon Knight took part in the support of protesters, marching for police reform and an end to police brutality.

"There’s a risk for staying status quo – for people being murdered for being black," Casey said. "Now is the time. This is different. I look at the protests. It's not just black people."
