Chris Houston, who has played the last three seasons in Detroit, has agreed to a deal that will keep him with the Lions, according to his agent.
The Lions team website reported the deal to be for five years.
Houston is entering his seventh NFL season and was considered by many to be a top priority of the Lions this offseason because of his familiarity with the defensive system and his ability to make plays on defense.
He was frequently assigned to covering the opposition's top receiver.
In 14 games during the 2012 season, Houston intercepted two passes and forced two fumbles while posting 44 tackles.
