DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Lions and General Manager Bob Quinn have made a significant restructure to punter Sam Martin's contract.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the contract has dropped his non-guaranteed base salary for 2019 from $2.4 million to a guarantee $1.7 million, and 2020 is now a voidable year for his deal.

That means the team can opt not to bring him back and void his contract for 2020.

Martin made the 2013 NFL All-Rookie team and has been named NFL Special Teams Player of the Week three times, the last coming in 2016. He averaged 44.7 yards per punt in 2018, but 2016 was his best season with 48.5 yards per punt on average.
