Here are the details of Mel Tucker's 6-year contract with Michigan State

(WXYZ) — 7 Action News has learned details of Mel Tucker's 6-year contract as Michigan State's head football coach.

Tucker will make $3.8 million a year as his base salary, according to his contract. He'll also get a $400,000 bonus if he serves as head coach for the 12 months continuously before July 1

There are several performance incentives. Those include:

– $100,000 bonus if they win the Big Ten Division
– $100,000 if they win the Big Ten Championship
– $25,000 if Tucker is named Big Ten Coach of the Year
– $50,000 if he is named National Coach of the Year
– $75,000 if MSU plays in any bowl game as the Big Ten's No. 4 or lower overall team
– $125,000 if the team plays in a non-College Football Playoff bowl gas as either the Big Ten No. 2 or No. 3 overall team
– $250,000 if they play in a College Football Playoff non-semi final bowl game
– $275,000 if they play in a CFP semi final game
– $300,000 if MSU plays in the CFP Championship
– $375,000 if MSU wins the CFP Championship

Other perks of the contract include:

– Purchase of a membership and payment of, or reimbursement for monthly dues in a country club selected by the coach
– Six complimentary football season tickets, four ice hockey season tickets, four men's and women's basketball season tickets
– Four seats on the team plane and two hotel rooms for any post-season football games, in addition to team plane seats for the coach's wife and children
– Use of a private plane for the coach and his guests or family for 25 hours a year
– Use of two automobiles

If Tucker leaves Michigan State for a professional job or for another college football job, he will have to pay the university damages depending on the year.
– $6 million if he leaves before Jan. 15, 2021
– $2.5 million if he leaves between Jan. 16, 2021 and Jan. 15, 2022
– $2 million if he leaves between Jan. 16, 2022 and Jan. 15, 2023
– $1.5 million if he leaves between Jan. 16, 2023 and Jan. 15, 2024
– $1 million if he leaves on or after Jan. 16, 2024.
