Report: Wings Babcock chosen to coach Team Canada

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit Red Wings' Mike Babcock will once again be the head coach of Team Canada in the 2014 Olympics, according to a report from SportsNet.

Babcock coached the team in 2010 when they won the gold and defeated the United States in overtime.

Accompanying the Red Wings' head coach on the bench will be the St. Louis Blues' Ken Hitchcock, Lindy Huff of the Dallas Stars and Claude Julien of the Eastern Conference Champion Boston Bruins.

The report came out today two days after the NHL and NHLPA agreed on a deal allowing players to participate in the upcoming Olympics. The league released their 2013-2014 schedule shortly thereafter.

The winter games are located in Sochi, Russia and will take place in February.
