Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler was fined $10,000 for his comments about umpire Angel Hernandez, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

According to Olney, Manager Brad Ausmus said "it's a level almost unheard of in fines for players."

Kinsler was ejected during a game last week in Texas for arguing with Hernandez about balls and strikes.

The next day, he said Hernandez was a bad umpire who is "messing" with games "blatantly.

"It has to do with changing the game. He's changing the game," Kinsler added. "He needs to find another job, he really does."

On Saturday, MLB umpires wore white wristbands during the game to protest what they called "abusive player behavior" after Kinsler was fined.

An ESPN survey in 2010 found that 22 percent of players surveyed called Hernandez the worst umpire in the league.
