(WXYZ) -- The Detroit Red Wings are in Tampa, site of Super Bowl LV on Sunday, which prompted some football-related questions following Friday's morning skate.

When asked about Tom Brady leading the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl in his first season with the team, Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill described it as "amazing" and "astounding."

"It's actually an unbelievable story," Blashill said. "I talk to lots of people, lots of groups, and I talk about perseverance. The two biggest factors in individual success are hard work and perseverance, and (Brady's) embodied that as much as anybody."

Blashill said he began following Brady's career when the quarterback was playing at the University of Michigan.

"It was never easy for him (at Michigan), and that's probably why he's been able to have such a good level of success - he's never become entitled," said Blashill. "He gets up in the morning and wants to earn his spot every day, and that's why ultimately he'll go down as being probably the best ever."

Despite his praise for Brady, Blashill actually opted in the other direction when it came to picking Sunday's winner.

"It's two guys I never want to bet against, I'll tell you that, with Brady and Mahomes," said Blashill. "I have a hard time saying this, but I'm going with the Chiefs. Just the younger Mahomes."
