John Wroblewski is leaving Plymouth's USA Hockey National Team Development Program to develop the Los Angeles Kings' top prospects.
The 39-year-old is the new head coach of LA's AHL team, the Ontario Reign.
After spending four years as head coach at the NTDP, Wroblewski becomes the fifth head coach in Reign history.
"John has a proven background in working with young players and helping them develop their game," Kings general manager Rob Blake said.
Wroblewski led the NTDP to its first USHL playoff berth since 2012 and its first USHL Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2018. He coached his team to a top-three finish in all 12 international tournaments it entered. Eight players on his 2018-19 team were picked in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft. The Kings took Alex Turcotte, who will reunite with Wroblewski in the organization.
"He's a strong leader who communicates well and he'll play an important role for our organization. We welcome John and his family to southern California and look forward to having him coach the Reign," Blake added.
Wroblewski was a player on the inaugural NTDP roster in 1997. He then played at Notre Dame and in the ECHL.
