WXYZ — A message was sent out yesterday that the long anticipated first professional season for DCFC, would have to wait.

“For ten years now we’ve been building towards this season, our fans have been waiting for it, we’ve been working towards it, it was a dream and this was going to be the year we were going to flip the switch,” Detroit City Football Club Co-Owner Alex Wright said.

The post went of to say that refunds for tickets would be available but in the moments after that statement, the faithful and passionate fan base, dubbed the Northern Guard, did something other fan bases might not, most of them refused the refund.

“I just don’t want anything, they don’t have to give me anything back, I feel like I just was kind of lucky to be the first one to say what everyone was thinking,” Northern Guard member Nick B. said.

This was the tweet that started it all. ‘Puck’ is one of the groups members who posted this on Twitter the moment the word broke. Plenty of tweets came out in favor of this action, stunning the ownership.

“Within moments their first reaction was to think about DCFC, the future of the team and how this was going to affect us, and I would challenge any fan base in America to have that attitude about their team, it’s truly humbling,” Wright added.

“They’ve give us so much, ya know? That it’s only natural for us to say we don’t need anything, we just want you to be back when you can be back,” Northern Guard member Joe Novak said.
