(WXYZ) — The upcoming NFL season is scheduled to go on as planned even amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a spokesperson for the organization. The announcement was made Sunday, and further reiterates a statement by NFL Executive Jeff Pash made back in March.

"We will be ready if we have to make adjustments and our decisions will continue to be guided by the latest advice from medical and public health officials, as well as current and future government regulations," an NFL spokesperson told ABC Sunday.

On a conference call in March, NFL executive Jeff Pash told reporters that the NFL plans to release a full 16-game schedule by May 9, NFL Networks Ian Rapoport tweeted. The latest statement from the NFL further confirms the full season will happen.

The season will commence beginning September 10, and the official play schedule will be announced in the coming days.
