DETROIT — Rickie Fowler's tie-in to the Rocket Mortgage Classic was obvious since the day the tournament was announced.

But for one of golf's biggest names, the effort he made turned the partnership into so much more.

Fowler fully embraced his responsibilities, sponsored elements, and work off the course, all while competing in all four rounds. It's what he did with the fans beyond the cameras that turned him into a Detroit ambassador.

"It's been a really fun week. Yeah, I have more obligations than other guys throughout the week, but for me, seeing what Quicken Loans and Rocket Mortgage are doing in Detroit and surrounding areas, it's great to help out," Fowler said after completing his fourth round at Detroit Golf Club.

He finished the tournament 9-under par. When he made the cut and watched guys like Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, and Gary Woodland go home early, Fowler became the biggest draw left in the field.

He felt the love.

"The fans have been amazing, especially to me, but I've heard a lot of stories from other players out here. They've been super appreciative of everyone being up here to support the event, and to be here in Detroit," Fowler said.

There's no break for 30-year-old. He'll head home to Florida for two days of promotional shoots, before admitting he'll likely face-plant ahead of Scottish Open preparations.

"Quicken Loans, Rocket Mortgage, they've all done a great job. It was fun to partner up with them and help host this event," he added. "I think all-in-all, (it was) a success. Looking forward to making year two even better," Fowler said.
