(WXYZ) — Royal Oak Emagine theater is hosting a red carpet premiere of "The Russian Five" documentary on Friday, March 22 at 6 p.m.

The documentary details the true story of five Russian immigrant players – Sergei Federov, Igor Larionov, Viacheslav Fetisov, Vyacheslav Kozlov, and Vladimir Konstantinov – as they integrate into American society in the Motor City, while also turning the Detroit Red Wings into the hockey powerhouse it is today.

The screening will begin at 7 p.m., and an afterglow party will follow immediately after. Tickets to the red carpet event and afterglow party will be $160. All proceeds from the premiere will be donated to the Vladimir Konstantinov Special Needs Trust, which directly benefits Konstantinov’s medical needs, a press release states.

Konstantinov was sustained life-threatening brain stem injuries on June 7, 1997 when his limousine crashed into a tree on Woodward Ave. This happened just six days after he helped the Red Wings sweep their way to their first Stanley Cup in 42 years.

Also, 5 percent off all proceeds from the documentary will also be donated to the trust.

Celebrities that will be attending the event include Stanley Cup Champions and Detroit Red Wings Alumni Vladimir Konstantinov and Darren McCarty. Additional celebrities will be announced closer to the event date.

Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite at this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-russian-five-red-carpet-charity-event-tickets-58039089479

A GoFundMe has also been set up in Konstantinov’s honor here.
