(WXYZ) - Michigan and Michigan State will continue to play back-to-back games this Friday.
They just won't be at the same place like they were for their first two rounds.
For the first time in history, both teams are in the Round of 16 together, and they're playing in primetime Friday night.
The Wolverines tip off their Sweet 16 game against Kansas at 7:37 p.m. from Cowboys Stadium after beating South Dakota State and Virginia Commonwealth. The game will air on TBS.
In a battle of two heavyweight coaches, Michigan State will square off against Duke in Indianapolis in their regional semifinal at 9:45 p.m. The game will be shown on CBS. The Spartans defeated Valparaiso and Memphis in the second and third round, respectively.
Michigan is in the Round of 16 for the first time since 1994. Kansas is the South region's top-seed, and took down North Carolina Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans find themselves in familiar territory with Tom Izzo at the helm. For the 11th time in his tenure, Michigan State is in the Sweet 16.
