The Detroit Tigers sent starting pitcher Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros in a waiver trade deadline deal. 

"On behalf of the Detroit Tigers, we sincerely thank Justin Verlander for his remarkable 13 seasons of dedication to the organization," Tigers general manager Al Avila said in a statement.

During his 13 seasons with Detroit, he pitched in 380 games, starting all 380, with a 183-114 record. Over 2,511 innings pitched, he had a 3.49 ERA with a 1.191 WHIP.

In 2011, he won the American League MVP and the American League Cy Young. That year he also finished first in the American League in ERA with 2.40, wins with 24, strikeouts with 250, win-loss percentage with .828, innings pitched with 251 and games started with 34.

He also finished second in Cy Young voting in 2012 and 2016.

He led the American League in strikeouts in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2016, and led the AL in games started in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017.

Verlander was named rookie of the month in May of 2006, as well as pitcher of the month in May 2009, June 2011, September 2012 and July 2016. He was player of the week in the AL in May 2006, June 2007, May 2011, June 2011, September 2011 and September 2012.
