Niko Goodrum isn’t from Michigan, yet he spent all day in Flint, handing out water he purchased, after he realized the problems hadn’t been solved since hearing about them a couple of years ago from a TV documentary.

“It’s been cool but it’s also been an eye opener, how big the problem still is, you see the cars that are wrapped around and they keep coming, sitting for hours just to get some bottles of water so you see how important it is,” Tigers utility player Niko Goodrum said.

Goodrum is from Georgia, but spent 8 years in the Minnesota Twins organization before joining the Tigers as a free agent this offseason.

While he’s only been in Detroit for a short period of time, he’s set on making a difference in a place that’s giving him a new chance at reviving his career.

“This is my second home so we’re all family no matter if it’s Georgia or it’s in Michigan, to bring those southern roots up here and lend a hand, I told everyone that I’m going to continue to do this throughout the season so I’ll pick another day to bring some more pallets,” Goodrum added.
