Jimmy John's Field is in its final preps for its second season, and it's come a long way during its eight-month slumber.

"Last year at this time I was still laying the bricks to get ready and the field was probably a dirt pit still," General Sports Chairman and CEO Andy Appleby said.

In just one season, the United Shore Professional Baseball league set the bar high for low-cost, high value sports entertainment as attendance for the independent baseball league smashed expectations.

"We built this one family at a time, we wanted to be the cleanest ballpark in America, we want to be the safest ballpark, but we also want to triple the level of service that's ever been provided in sports," Appleby added.

"One of the things I'm most proud of is that we didn't have just hundreds of testimonials, we literally had thousands of testimonials."

And with just about 76 hours until first pitch, it's all hands, cartoon or not, on deck.

Yes, even the mascots for the four teams are training and polishing their skills to ensure the best fan experience possible.

"Were just sprucing up a lot of different things, this last eight months I had the chance to do a little more of the finer things in life and make everything even better than it was," Appleby added.

"We added three new bars, our food and beverage staff has stepped it up this year, we've got a lot of new menu items, a new concert stage in right field, a lot of new improvements," Director of Ballpark Operations Mark Albertson said.

There's still plenty to get done here at Jimmy John's Field as they get ready for their second opening day, the sign along M-59 let's you know, just three days away and some tickets still available so you can get in on the fun.
