(WXYZ) — Metro Detroit hasn't dropped into the single digits in the month of November since 1969. That could change tonight.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits with wind chills around or below zero degrees.

This would be the earliest Detroit has seen single-digit temperatures on record, which goes back 145 years. Within those 145 years, we've only dropped to single digits 13 times, the coldest being 0° in 1880.

We won't climb back above freezing until Thursday afternoon, but highs will probably stay in the 30s through the rest of this week. Our average high is about 50° for mid November.
