We've asked for your help in finding the next host for TV20 Detroit and we've been amazed by the reaction. Hundreds of you have responded and told us you want this job. You've also asked a few questions along the way -- and we have answers.

First off, the basics: Auditions are Wednesday, December 9, at the Renaissance Marriott in downtown Detroit. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the hotel’s Ontario Exhibit Hall on the third floor. Full details here.

The new host will be part of daily promotional efforts, participate in projects with partners and advertisers, and represent WMYD at station initiatives and events throughout the community.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to sign up or register in advance?
Nope. Just be there. If you want to let us know you're coming, add yourself to this Facebook event. Feel free to post info about yourself on that page, too.

  • Is there a minimum age to be a part of the auditions?
Yes! You must be over the age of 21 to participate in the audition process. If you are not over the age of 21, you will not be able to audition.

  • Where should I park?
The hotel is in the Ren Cen. Anywhere downtown is fair game. There are several parking lots and structures surrounding the Ren Cen which also has a People Mover stop. There is a convenient parking structure across from the hotel entrance. Pricing information and a parking map are all available here.

  • Can I bring a friend to watch my audition?
Please do not bring a friend to watch or cheer you on. Friends and relatives will not be allowed to enter unless they are also auditioning. We plan to stream live video from the Host Search on TV20detroit.com.

  • Do I need a headshot or resume?
No. You don't need to bring anything -- but if you think it will be helpful, bring it.

  • I like to arrive early. Will you let me in?
Nope. If you arrive early, please spend some time outside the hotel, perhaps in the shops at the Ren Cen. We will not begin until 11 a.m.

  • I like to show up fashionably late. Will you let me in?
We're holding auditions until 8 p.m. Plan accordingly. Don't show up right before the end of the event.

  • I can't be there for the auditions. Do I still have a chance?
Yes! You can still apply for this job online through the website of Scripps, our parent company. Read the job posting and apply online here.

  • When will I know if I am a finalist for the TV20 Detroit host gig?
We will call and email the finalists within 10 days.
