Any signs of April turning around? When warm weather could arrive in metro Detroit

It was a brutal start to April; which was just capped off by an ugly, icy weekend.

We've managed to stay below 47° for 12 of the first 15 days of the month. Since 2012, we've only averaged about 3 or 4 days staying below 50° in the first half of April.

So when will it finally start to feel like April?

We will still have some big temperature swings per-usual for spring, but overall it does look like the cold air that has been continuously diving southward across the Great Lakes will begin to retreat farther north.

We'll get another quick-moving clipper that could bring rain and snow Wednesday night, but then temperatures rebound into the upper 50s this weekend.

The long-range forecast models show colder air diving south across the western U.S. early next week, which means we actually stay warm in Michigan.

It is a little deceiving when looking at the "6-10 day" and "8-14 day" temperature outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center, because it shows us in the blue, below-average temperature category.

We may be below average for the next week, but the average high is 60°+ for the rest of April.  So anything in the 50s is below average, but still a nice warm up for us.

The average high in Detroit for the end of April is 65°.
