ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) — It’s been less than a year since Corner Kitchen opened their doors in St. Clair Shores. Even with a ban on sitting in, they are still taking off in many ways.

“Our eight-month anniversary was the day that Governor Whitmer put the carryout-only into effect,” said Shannon Nowowiecki.

Nowowiecki is the owner and lead chef at Corner Kitchen. He said they were in the process of growing a customer base before the executive order took effect.

“We have neighboring restaurants that have been around for 25 years, 10 years, and it’s a little frustrating because it’s like wow, if we only had those people we, would have more of a core base, but the cool thing is, we have had a lot of new people reach out to us come in and say, 'Hey, this is our first time,'” Nowowiecki said.

Corner Kitchen is now offering curbside pickup, along with some local deliveries. They offer a wide variety of food, including soups and freshly made meals.

Nowowiecki has also taking the time to donate food, including partnering with Boy Scout Troop 96 in Grosse Pointe Farms. Together, they were able to feed 60 front line workers at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe.

It was two years ago that Nowowiecki started “Soup 4 You,"which delivers soups and meals on a bi-weekly basis. They are fulfilling orders through their Facebook page.
