LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) — The owner of El Nibble Nook says the number one phone call he is getting is “can I buy a margarita?” While the restaurant can’t sell liquor, they are now selling the mix.

“All you have to do find some place to get tequila and triple sec and you have our margaritas,” said owner John Baier.

It will cost you $3 to get 12 ounces of the homemade mix.

This family restaurant has been around since the 1940s originally named “Nibble Nook”. In the 1960s, they transitioned to serve Mexican dishes and changed their name to “El Nibble Nook”.

Right now, the restaurant is taking carryout orders. People can call or place an order online. They have two locations: one in Livonia and another in West Bloomfield.

The restaurant is also on the app Door Dash. El Nibble Nook’s Livonia location is on an app called “Heartland Guest.” They hope to have their West Bloomfield location on the app by the end of this week.

“We will text you when the food is ready. Pull up to the restaurant and just give us a call or give us the description of your car, and we will just run it out to you,” said Baier.

They are also paying it forward to health care workers and first responders, delivering taco trays to Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and the Commerce Township Fire Department.

Now Baier is hoping others will help them out and order to-go.

“Restaurant business it is a tough business, everyone thinks its pretty easy to get in there. It is kind of cool but the margins are so tight, that any kind of help people can do for us, especially the independent restaurants the small ones is greatly appreciated,” said Baier.
