NOVI, Mich. (WXYZ) — One local martial arts group is taking its classes online and offering a special deal to parents trying to find ways for their children to blow off a little bit of steam.

The owner of PKSA Karate, Rich Collins, says they are now offering classes to kids through Zoom for free.

“We really want to just want to help out our community in this time of crisis, at the same time we have all of these instructors sitting at home and they want to train too, so it kind of works out good for everyone,” said Collins.

There are several PKSA schools in the metro Detroit area, so to take part in the Zoom classes, find the one closest to you through an online search. That way, your child can be connected to an instructor closest to you.

People can now also take advantage of PKSA University, an online school taught by Collins and others martial arts teachers.

The free classes are a great way for kids to give martial arts a go, and teaches kids the importance of self-confidence and discipline.

“They are being actively taught, these aren’t just words, the instructor knows what to implement what to increase discipline, the confidence in themselves the respect, self-esteem, team work there is a lot of different elements that they are going to to be doing during class,” Collins said.

Collins says they will be trying to reschedule some of those cancelled tournaments when the timing is right.
