Detroit Lions and Haven team up to end domestic & sexual violence

Tailgating fun for the whole family

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH (WXYZ) — You and yours are invited to join Detroit Lions legends and team mascot, Roary, for an ultimate tailgating experience at the 7th Annual Tailgate Party.

The fun will take place Sunday, September 22, at the Birmingham Athletic Club, 4033 W. Maple Rd., Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Registration is at 12:30 p.m.; Game kick-off is 1 p.m. General admission tickets are $150 (Discounted rate of $125 until September 16) at Young professional tickets (under age 35): $60

Money raised will benefit HAVEN, Oakland County’s only organization that offers comprehensive programs for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The fundraising tailgate will feature a gourmet BBQ buffet, beer and wine, bottomless Bloody Mary bar, craft beer, wine, contests and silent and live auctions, as guests watch the Detroit Lions take on the Philadelphia Eagles on the big screen.

Marinated Chicken Kabobs
The Sticky Chicken

1 ½ -2lbs. Boneless chicken thighs cut up into kabob size pieces

1 C Low sodium soy sauce

2 T Fresh ginger

1 T Cilantro

1 T Garlic (minced)

½ C Sesame oil

½ C Rice wine vinegar

½ C Brown sugar

2 tsp Red chile flake

6oz. Pineapple juice

As needed Salt and black pepper

In stainless bowl mix all ingredients well, pour over chicken and refrigerate overnight. The next day pre heat grill and brush grates lightly with salad oil. Season chicken skewer and place on grill, rotate skewer to prevent burning or excess charring. If chicken is getting done too quickly on outside, reduce grill temperature. Cook chicken thoroughly until internal temperature is 165 degrees. Remove from grill and serve immediately.
