Scripps National Correspondent

Amanda Brandeis is a National Correspondent for E.W. Scripps. From the US-Mexico border to the Pacific Northwest, she travels throughout the country bringing viewers stories from the West Coast.

A three-time Emmy Award winner, Amanda shoots, writes, and edits all her stories. Before joining the national team, she reported for ABC 10News in San Diego.

One of her most memorable assignments was traveling to Washington D.C. with World War II and Korean War veterans. Her coverage inspired a local philanthropist to donate $100,000 to the nonprofit organization Honor Flight San Diego.

Amanda helped grow the Positively San Diego franchise, highlighting stories of people making a difference in their communities to provide viewers a more accurate reflection of the city. She was also able to share her craft with high school journalism students, collaborating on a project promoting news literacy.

Before moving to San Diego, Amanda worked at the NBC station in Austin, Texas. She often reported late into the night covering severe weather events like the 2015 Memorial Day weekend floods. The historic event damaged hundreds of homes in the Texas Hill Country after river levels surpassed 40 feet.

Amanda regularly covered sensitive topics like sexual assault on college campuses, mental health, and cyberbullying.

Amanda got her start at the CBS affiliate in Grand Junction, Colorado, reporting extensively on the legalization of recreational marijuana. She also covered the 2012 presidential election, interviewing high-profile politicians campaigning in the once battleground state. Amanda’s reporting on a months-long battle for adequate cell phone service in a rural Colorado town resulted in swift action from the cellular provider at fault.

A California native, Amanda is proud to share stories from the West Coast with viewers across the country.
