Pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice... pumpkin (fill in the blank) all comes from our favorite fall fruit. Fun fact, pumpkins are classified as a fruit.

In this week’s Around Town, Maybury Farm in Northville is ready for you to visit their pumpkin patch.

“It’s a time to celebrate fall in Michigan and especially farming,” said Farm director Cindy Kern.

They opened their corn maze last month.

“Attendance is way up over last year,” Kern said.

This weekend, they are celebrating the Great Pumpkin Fest.

“We have lots and lots of pumpkin themed games and activities," Kern said. "We have live music from local bands.”

It’s a family-fun event that many have been asking about. This year, the weather made them a little behind with their pumpkin patch.

“I explain, we don’t make it, nature makes it,” Kern said.

There’s other fun fall events happening this weekend:

The Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn kicks off Friday and runs for three weekends.

This isn’t your average Halloween event, it is modeled after the holiday as it was celebrated during the first half of the 20th century.

Tickets for non-members are $17 and can be purchased here.

Zoo Boo continues at the Detroit Zoo this weekend. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased here.

Michigan takes on Wisconsin Saturday with ESPN’s College Game Day broadcasting from Ann Arbor.

Catch the game right here on WXYZ channel 7.

And remember, Maybury Farm’s Great Pumpkin Fest is Saturday and Sunday, and $7 gets you in the farm and festival.

“A place to make memories and also to experience some of the agricultural that is really part of our heritage,” Kern added.
