EASTPOINTE (MICH.) WXYZ — Nearly a week after a near-fatal shooting in Eastpointe the girlfriend of the shooting victim is speaking exclusively to 7 Action News about that terrifying night, and what she remembers seeing.
The shooting happened last Wednesday, leaving the woman's boyfriend fighting for his life after being shot multiple times. Now she says she is terrified to go back to the home while police continue searching for suspects.
"The first thing he said when I came in was, I’m going to die," said the girlfriend, who didn't want to be identified.
It happened under the disguise of darkness.
"They were dressed in all black. They were pretty tall, slim," she said.
A 28-year-old man shot three times as he went to the front door. It happened on the 22,000 block of Tuscany in Eastpointe. The man’s girlfriend says she’s scared for her life after seeing the shooting unfold in front of her eyes with her 4-month-old baby in the car with her.
"As I was pulling over to park in my street, there’s two men on my porch firing shots," she said. "I was just trying to figure out what was going on within those 10-15 seconds shots were fired. I could hear the sounds through my car while my windows were rolled up."
She sped down the street, away from the front of her home. She says it was the most terrifying minutes, not knowing who shot her boyfriend and maybe even her if she had arrived home just a few minutes earlier.
"I probably would have been involved," she said. "It probably wouldn’t have went the way that it should have went."
Just recently she noticed a bullet hole in the rim of her car. She believes the shooter was trying to get her too as she sped away.
"It was almost as if they were aiming at my car," she said. "They wouldn’t care if they hit the neighbors across the street, that’s how careless they were."
For now, all she can do is wait and stay in a safe place. She said she never wants to go back to the home where she and her boyfriend once found peace.
"I feel like these people were either watching our every move or it could have just been a random at this point, we just don’t know," she said.
